fertility clinics / ChatGPT Ads

ChatGPT Ads for fertility clinics.

Fertility is the hardest case for ChatGPT Ads, and the reason is placement rather than eligibility. Even where a healthcare advertiser is approved, an ad cannot appear inside a conversation where someone is describing symptoms or asking about a personal diagnosis. That describes most of what a fertility patient asks an assistant, which means approval alone would not get you in front of them.

The conversation your patient is having is the one ads are kept out of

A fertility patient does not open an assistant and ask for a clinic. They ask what their AMH result means, what their odds are at their age, whether a particular add-on is worth paying for, and what happens if a cycle fails.

Those are personal-diagnosis conversations. OpenAI refined its placement policy in April 2026 so that medical advice contexts are no longer categorically blocked for approved categories, but sensitive conversations remain fully ad-free and ads still cannot appear where someone is describing symptoms or a personal diagnosis.

So the gap here is not between approved and unapproved. It is between the conversations you could appear in and the conversations your patients are actually having, and for fertility those overlap less than in any other category we work in.

Eligibility is also the least certain here

Healthcare advertiser approval is case by case with manual review, and businesses offering licensed services may be required to prove they hold the necessary credentials.

Fertility sits at the more heavily scrutinised end of healthcare. In May 2026 clinical care providers were excluded from ad inventory outright. By August 2026 reporting named several healthcare sub-categories as approved, and fertility was not among those named.

That is not the same as saying fertility is prohibited. It means we could not find it confirmed as approved, and we would rather tell you that than imply a certainty that does not exist.

Where your budget probably belongs instead

For a fertility clinic the stronger play on AI surfaces is being cited rather than being advertised. A patient who reads a clear explanation of how success rates are calculated, attributed to your clinic, is further along than one who saw a placement.

That is generative engine optimisation rather than paid placement, it is slower, and it does not run into the sensitive-conversation restriction at all, because a citation is not an ad.

It also compounds. Paid placement stops the day the budget stops. A clinic that becomes the source an assistant reaches for on success-rate presentation keeps that position for as long as the content holds up.

What we could not verify, and why that matters

OpenAI's own ad policies page returns a 403 to our tooling, so the position above comes from secondary reporting. Every claim here is dated for that reason, and the policy has changed four times in five months.

We will check the current position directly before any campaign. If fertility becomes clearly eligible and the placement restrictions ease, we will tell you. Until then we would rather point your budget somewhere it can actually work.

What we do before running fertility ads on ChatGPT

  • An eligibility check against the current policy, with the date it was checked
  • An honest assessment of whether your patients' conversations are ones ads can appear in
  • A recommendation against spending where the placement restriction makes it unlikely to work
  • Where it is viable: account setup, billing and campaign structure
  • Context descriptions written from what patients actually ask, not from keywords
  • The alternative costed alongside it, so you can compare paid placement with earned citation
  • The policy position re-checked and re-reported every month

Questions

Can a fertility clinic advertise on ChatGPT?

We could not confirm fertility among the healthcare sub-categories reported as approved in August 2026. Healthcare approval is case by case with manual review. Even if approved, the placement restriction on personal-diagnosis conversations would limit where ads could appear.

Why does placement matter more than eligibility here?

Because fertility patients ask assistants about their own results, odds and symptoms, and those are precisely the conversations that remain ad-free. Being approved would not put you in front of them.

So what should we do on AI surfaces instead?

Work on being cited rather than advertised. A clear, attributed explanation of how you report success rates is not an ad, does not run into the sensitive-conversation restriction, and keeps working after the budget stops.

Would you take our money to run this anyway?

No. If the placement restriction makes a channel unlikely to reach your patients, we will tell you and point the budget somewhere it can work.
